Employment Start Date: April 2018
Why did you choose a career with The River Source?
It was clear from the beginning that there was great leadership in place, as well as plenty of opportunities for growth — all in a field that really helps people.
What was the interview process like?
I was interviewed by the executive director and clinical director, who were both friendly and inviting. They explained their vision for the company and their goals for the future. I was shown ways that I could fit into that vision, and I wanted to be a part of it.
How would you describe the training process?
I was able to sit in with the Lead Case Manager who took time to show me not only her interview process with clients but all of the computer processes. She took time to answer any questions I had and remained a resource I could refer to.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I honestly really appreciate the autonomy of my job, and the fact there is a dedicated professional team to work with when I need them.
How would you describe the culture and work environment?
Our biggest focus is on recovery, and we all have a desire to help those who are struggling with addiction. When helping others is such a big part of the culture, it makes the job easier.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of working at The River Source?
For me, it’s watching people recover. They learn so much more about themselves and how to live their life to the fullest, and how they can do it sober.
How has The River Source helped you develop your professional skills?
I have been able to work in several capacities and learn many additional skills. That’s just part of the culture here, where people are ready to step up and fill in for others, and others want to help you. That has the side effect of giving different people the chance to learn different skills around the company.
What potential is there for career growth at The River Source?
They do a lot with internal promotions, which I’ve seen really benefit lots of people. They also offer education benefits here so you can become a better employee and person.
What’s one memorable moment you've had since working here?
I can remember when one really difficult client, who had been here several times, finally got involved and was reported as helping others. That really let me see that everyone has a chance to do great things, they just need to be surrounded by people who believe in them and support them.
Why should someone ultimately consider a career at The River Source?
It’s a great place to work if you want to be around other people who really care about the work that we’re doing here, and the vision for the company’s future. There’s also plenty of support around you if you need it.
