Tyler Padgett

Alumni Coordinator

Employment Start Date: October 2020

Why did you choose a career with The River Source?

Working at The River Source was an opportunity to give back to the program that played a huge part in my own recovery. I wanted to help others who were struggling.

I felt the interviews were thorough and did a good job of outlining both the challenges of the job and the rewards.

The training took a very hands-on approach, which I felt was a good thing. For me, hands-on learning was the only way I was going to get comfortable in my role and be efficient.

As an Alumni Coordinator, I get a chance to see both the very beginning and very end of a client’s experience with us, which can be so rewarding! It’s also really great to let them know how they’re part of The River Source family for life.

The River Source staff is a giant family that has been there for me in more ways than I can count. I’ve never worked anywhere like this, where I’ve had this much support day in and day out.

Definitely that I’m able to go home at night knowing that I’m a part of the solution to a huge problem that our country is struggling with — addiction and mental health.

They provided me with the training and hands-on experience I needed to grow, and I really appreciate that. It’s an ongoing process, and something that will never stop as long as I’m here at The River Source.

If you work hard (and of course, the company continues to grow) there will always be positions opening up where you can expand your professional experience. I’ve always expressed my interest in growing our Alumni Program, and The River Source took notice of the initiative I was taking. They then gave me the opportunity to move forward in my career with the Alumni Program.

I’ve had the honor of helping a client with a Fifth Step — admitting our wrongs — when his sponsor wasn’t available. We sat down for almost four hours and went through a thorough Fifth Step, which can be an emotional experience at times. To build that bond with another man was tear jerking, all in such a short amount of time. I can honestly say though we both walked away with such powerful gratitude. It was a real blessing.

Do something that will make you feel proud of the paycheck you receive. Helping others through the treatment process can be stressful and emotional at times, but it can also provide you with a real sense of accomplishment. The River Source is an amazing place to find that.
