Why did you choose a career with The River Source?
I came to The River Source to work because I love helping others, and I like connecting with clients by letting them know I have been where they are, and that I’m here to help.
What was the interview process like?
It was a great experience because I got to think about all the great work I’d be doing to help new clients when they get here, and help them have good experiences.
How would you describe the training process?
I was very eager to learn everything, and my team taught me about a bunch of different aspects of working at The River Source. I can always come to them for support.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I mostly enjoy that I get to help others learn how to have a better understanding of addiction as a disease, and how they can have a better life after their treatment.
How would you describe the culture and work environment?
The River Source is a great environment to work in. The people at The River Source have all taught me a lot and I’m happy to work here.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of working at The River Source?
Well, for me, it is when a client has completed their treatment, and they thank you for all you do and tell you how it’s helped them. It’s a great feeling knowing that you had a hand in their recovery.
How has The River Source helped you develop your professional skills?
I have learned a lot from my team. There’s a great amount of opportunity to refine your professional skills and build new ones while working at The River Source. My Program Director, Assistant Program Director, and other people on my team have all been a great help to my professional development.
What potential is there for career growth at The River Source?
I started off as a Behavioral Health Technician for about three months, and then I moved to Team Lead for about nine months. Then after my first year I moved into a Program Manager role.
What’s one memorable moment you've had since working here?
I was working with a client that really wanted to leave treatment, so I sat with him and was able to help him take a step back and understand what he was going through. He eventually made the right choice to stay, and after we were done talking, I had to go home. I started crying on the drive back because I could see myself in that client, and he helped me believe even more strongly in what we’re doing here at The River Source and the good it’s doing for people. Things like this are why I love my job.
Why should someone ultimately consider a career at The River Source?
If you’re looking to help other people, especially those who are in a place where they need it more than ever, The River Source is a great place to start.
