What Is IOP in Drug Rehab?

What Is IOP?

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) involves a type of outpatient-based addiction treatment program available at The River Source. It is an addiction treatment program that offers the most flexibility, even allowing a person to go to work and attend to other daily responsibilities while still receiving optimal care for their drug addiction.

An intensive outpatient rehab program is also convenient and suitable for the person receiving treatment for substance use disorder and their family and loved ones to join in their recovery journey. An IOP at The River Source will include several essential elements of effective treatment such as personal growth programs, relapse prevention, family participation, life skills training, group therapy, individual counseling, 12-step education, and several other treatments as part of our holistic treatment methods.

For more information on how our addiction treatment programs can help heal drug or alcohol dependence, please give The River Source a call at 866-294-9331.

How Does an IOP Program Work?

At The River Source, we believe in the proven success of our personalized treatment plans, starting with 30- to 90-day inpatient rehab and then transitioning into our partial hospitalization program (PHP) and our intensive outpatient program, followed by our aftercare programs. Following this plan guarantees your long-term recovery as long as you complete your rehab programs and actively manage your addiction after rehab in our aftercare programs.

IOP is an excellent way to receive transitional care for drug abuse and addiction after inpatient treatment at The River Source. You will only need to come in a few times a week for a few hours each day, which is why it is such a flexible program, allowing you to work in treatment at more convenient times while leading a self-sufficient lifestyle again.

You will continue to go through evidence-based behavioral therapy such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, receive holistic treatments such as naturopathic treatment, and be involved with relapse prevention skills training, among other vital skills and education.

How Much Time Do You Spend in IOP Drug Rehab?

Every person is different when it comes to the treatment that they need to overcome their drug addiction. Having said that, the National Institute on Drug Abuse suggests a three-month minimum required period in rehab and treatment for treatment to be effective.

At The River Source, our IOP lasts between 1 and 3 months. Our 30-, 60-, and 90-day IOP will likely be combined with our residential rehab and PHP. Once you’ve completed your rehab programs, you’ll then tradition into our lifetime alumni program and other aftercare programs such as 12-step support group meetings and sober living homes.

Is IOP Drug Rehab Effective?

So, how effective is IOP drug rehab? IOP in drug rehab is a highly effective program that can be very helpful with the transitional phase of treatment: going from intensive inpatient treatment back to your mainstream life. When combined with our comprehensive long-term treatment plan at The River Source, IOP drug rehab can be very effective as it helps you to return to normal daily activities while still receiving treatment and therapy regularly throughout the week.
