Employment Start Date: July 2020
Why did you choose a career with The River Source?
The River Source was willing to give me the opportunity to do what I have a passion for, helping people with addiction issues, while growing as a person and as part of a team.
What was the interview process like?
They treated me with friendliness and kindness throughout the whole thing, which is always a good feeling to start with. They were also very thorough, because they wanted to get to know if I’d be a good fit not just for the job, but as a person for the company.
How would you describe the training process?
The training was very hands-on — I feel like I’m always continuing to develop and gaining new experience day after day. Every client is unique, and that means there’s something new to learn with every client.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love the one-on-one connection I get with the clients. The way you get to learn about people and their stories is not necessarily an experience you can have at many other jobs.
How would you describe the culture and work environment?
It’s like a family here at The River Source, and it’s a constant source of support that I don’t think you can find at many other workplaces.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of working at The River Source?
I love seeing the clients develop self-love, growth, and a passion for their recovery. It’s something they carry with them forever, and I get to be there to see it in the early stages of growth.
How has The River Source helped you develop your professional skills?
I have worked with clients in both a Behavioral Health Technician and Case Management role, which has helped me relate to them on different levels and offered me the experience and encouragement to advance in my career and education.
What potential is there for career growth at The River Source?
I have been promoted from Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to Case Manager, and The River Source offered the support that empowered me to believe in myself. I also was encouraged to continue my education and was recently accepted into college! I will continue on to earn my bachelor’s and eventually master’s degrees. The River Source has provided me with confidence in my abilities to help others.
What’s one memorable moment you've had since working here?
It was a really big deal for me when I was promoted to Case Manager, because it showed that all the training I’ve done and experiences I’ve had were really leading up to something greater.
Why should someone ultimately consider a career at The River Source?
The River Source is like a family that encourages and uplifts one another, while providing quality service to our clients as a team.
